I read a book recently by Barry Moltz called You Need to be a Little Crazy: The Truth about Starting and Growing your own Business. Having read in the hundreds of books on business and management through the years, I am always a little concerned that all I am going to do is rehash all the old stuff put in new packaging. With Barry's book, this wasn't the case.
It is definitely a gritty, get-down-in-the-dirt kind of book that pulls out all stops and tells you what it's really like to start and grow a business.

The thing that surprised me was the various angles and situations that were discussed concerning not only the business side of things, but also the expectations and realities as you deal with people on the journey you take.
While there was a lot I got out of the book for now, it's the type of book I wish I could have read when I bought my first business about 29 years ago. It doesn't coddle you or give you the hyped-up talk that many do just to get you moving. At the same time it doesn't discourage you from getting started either.
What it does is deal with the honest, hard realities you'll face at the various stages that businesses go through. It helps to strip away the illusions that so many people offer those looking at starting or growing a business, and deals straight up with the difficulties that will come your way.
It is a tough and encouraging look at what it will take to reach the success you desire, along with understanding how to make sure that the business is in line with your personal desires and what will make you happy.
I would highly recommend getting a copy of this book and reading it from end-to-end; no matter what stage of the business journey you're at.
I've owned a number of businesses and participated in real estate ventures, and just about every aspect of the financial markets, still I found this book having a touch of something that I hadn't read or completely experienced before. You will profit from it no matter what stage of the journey you're on.
