The U.S. Small Business Administration released information that says that small businesses are more successful today than they were five years ago.
In 2001, there 544,800 new business that began and 553, 291 that closed. Whereas in 2005, 671,800 small businesses were designated as new, with 544,800 closing. The result is that 127,000 new businesses were gained in the country. By any count, this is good to see.
James Jones a business consultant who owns the firm QSI Consulting says that there four keys to business success today:
1. Having the financial resources to grow your business. This relates to not only at the beginning of the business but the proper allocating of resources as the funds become available from doing business.
2. A vision statement and mission statement to help you reach annual goals. This forces you to understand the business you're in and where you want to go and when.
3. Must have employees and business partners who help meet business demand as it grows. I would add that it must be the right employees and partners; especially in the early stages.
4. Branding of the business. “Branding is about creating a business profile,” Jones said. That profile expresses the quality of your product or service."
Run your business through these four important areas and make sure you're doing the right things to make it successful.
