
When we always hear about the word "innovation," it begins to dawn on us that it is almost becoming as ubiquitous as the term "information." We not only suffer from information overload, we now suffer from innovation overload. We simply can't keep up with it anymore.
With that thought in mind, there are some insights we can look at that is the result of innovation overload.
The first thing to realize is that innovation isn't related primarily to all those "labs" you read about or watch on TV. If it was, there wouldn't be so much of an overload as we have. Innovation isn't even primarily scientific.
Because innovation is such a growing trend, the question is why is that true. The answer is that consumers are demanding something that is driving this reality. What are they demanding? A unique experience. The hunger for a surprising, compelling experience is what is driving the innovation overload.
This hunger for new experiences, or pleasant surprises, is what is making the economy move at this time. This is the reason why marketing is such a key part of it all. Yet, even marketing is starting to have to adapt to the experience market. People want even their marketing experience to be something that enhances their lives.
We need to be experience experts wherever we are and whatever business we engage in. Customer service is just another way of saying give an experience I will remember.
