I came across an encouraging article by Denise Resnik; President, Denise Resnik & Associates and also Co-founder and board chairwoman, Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center.
She was asked five questions concerning being a manager, challenges, and success.
When asked about whether she believe entrepreneurs were born or made; here is her response:
"I believe it is more a force of nurture vs. nature. Entrepreneurial qualities can and will evolve from exposure to role models and life experiences.
"My parents, who also are entrepreneurs, have instilled in me a strong work ethic, a sense of social responsibility and a commitment to lifelong learning. My father and his family ran a clothing-manufacturing business, and my mother, who is very creative, started a few businesses from our home. One was Flowers Galore.
"All my life, I've observed their incredible attention to detail and customer service and their supreme satisfaction in a job well done."
A great answer. She also says in the same article that she has found great success selling people on ideas by doing her homework well, making sure that she lined herself up with the people, causes and business interests that she believed in.
Think of what would happen if we as managers and our employees, took this same attitude with our customers?
