There are times that, for a number of reasons, employees that are usually very reliable and can be counted on in almost any situation, suddenly start losing their edge and their work isn't what it usually is.
When you notice this happening, there are a couple things you can do to get them back on track quickly.
1. Look for areas in their workload where they can accomplish something very quickly and finish it. Some type of small task, a quick meeting with other workers to make a decision, brainstorming an idea that is needed now or writing a quick report on something.
This gives them an immediate feeling that their accomlishing and achieving something needed in the company. This can get them back in the game quickly.
2. When these downturns happen, employees are usually down from various circumstances. This is a golden opportunity to give recognition, praise or reward to the worker for the job at hand or something they just completed. Most people will respond positively to this type of feedback with increasing their job performance.
Try these things quickly with normally great workers and they'll get back into the swing of things quickly.
