
One of the major ways people get rewarded with promotions in management is by ending up with responsibility for assignments needed to get done.
The trick is to be the one that receives the assignment and get it done great.
How do you get responsibility for assignments? Most of the time those that receive assignments are those that communicate the clearest and speak with the most knowledge and confidence; they are the ones that typically get assigned the most tasks.
This means the burden is upon us who want promotions to do our homework on what needs to be done better than anybody else. Then to be prepared to communicate that knowledge, with confidence, to those who make decisions.
Not only does that land you the project most of the time, but it prepares you for when you receive the project to truly know what it entails and to be empowered to accomplish it to the satisfaction of the company.
Do this a few times and there should be no problem with receiving the promotion that you desire.
