Depending on the industry you're in, summer can be an excellent time to catch up on a lot of things that busy seasons make it difficult to do.
Here are several things you can check up on to make sure you're ready for the increase in business in the months ahead:
1. This is a great opportunity to look at all those employees you're responsible for and take inventory of their progress and things they need to improve. It can offer time to be a little more personable with them and build greater trust and respect.
2. It's a time to remember the business that is only a couple of months away, and go over your strategy to make sure everything is in place and ready to go.
3. Are your goals being met and projections on target or do you need to adjust or readjust them because you're ahead or possibly behind in them?
4. This is a time of year when you can see if employee benefits or rewards are in line or you need to increase them for the terrific performers.
The whole idea is that this is one of those breathers that we get that we need to take advantage of and put our houses in order to get ready for the soon increase in business that will not give us the time to react to once it's upon us.
