When putting a team together for any reason, we need to take into account a couple of important things.
One way to look at it is to think of the team as an orchestra. Each one has their ability and gifts, strengths and passions.
Everyone should have a diverse, unique aspect that they can bring to the mix. One major thing that must be understood is that they still must be willing and able to play the same music i.e.: working with the same goal or vision.
They must be on board and on the same page but each in their personal niche that will add to the success of whatever the team as been assembled for.
This is one of those things that is easy to understand, but not necessarily to do. Sometimes we look for sameness in the abilities, rather than the vision and goal. This is one of the major reasons that projects can fail because there is not enough variety and skill diversity to play the whole score.
Understanding the place to put the emphasis is the key to creating a successful team.
