Sometimes over the years we can get to feel that we don't enjoy managing anymore and either think about quitting or dropping out of management altogether.
Now sometimes it may just be the time and right thing to do, but if you used to like management and want to get some of the old fire back in you, one thing you can do is go through a little time of "self-discovery" and look at a couple of things.
First, look at what it is that you like to do best and gives you the most satisfaction. I know of a lot of managers whose only desire was to go up the corporate ladder as far as they could attain. The problem was that they lost all the joy and pleasure of their work and going to work became a heavy burden every day.
Remember what it is that you really like to do best and forget about reaching the top. If you do what you do best, you'll not only really love and enjoy it, but you'll get to places without the struggle of trying to fit into something that you just aren't made for.
When you rediscover your strenghts and that which you really desire to do, then go back to being as good as it as you can and improve and get better and better throughout the years.
This sort of rediscovery will be just the thing to give you that new burst of energy, wonder and enthusiasm for your job again.
