One of the strengths and weaknesses that involve good businesses is the presence of leaders and managers. For the purpose of our discussion, we'll look at one of those differences.
The one I want to focus on is where leaders have their focus on the overall picture, the broad view of things, the future and the vision. Of course this leads some to believe that they ignore the problems that can get them there.
Managers on the other side of the coin, most of the time, look at the present and all the issues involved in it. They have a clear view of what things are really like and what is needed to solve issues that are coming up right now.

Now the downside to a manager is that they can get in a rut because they've dealt with certain issues and tend to do the same thing over and over again because it's "the way that it gets done around here."
This is why it is so important to have both in a company. If you were to emphasize leadership too much, you will have an endless array of ideas without any of them getting done, or getting done well.
If you're emphasis is on managers, you have the same problem for a different reason. They will deal with the nuts and bolts in the same way and have a hard time breaking out into new solutions.
This is the reason why all teams need both of these strengths when they are working on solving problems or developing new products or services.
Now who is the one that represents the greatest leaders over the centuries? Those that have both!
