As a manager, how many times to you crave to be able to be alone so that you can simply gather your thoughts, deal with subjective situations objectively and be in a quiet atmoshere where you can let solutions come to your mind? I have found that the busier I get, the more I must "seize" the time to do it.
I almost used the word "take" in place of "seize" above, but thought better of it. This is something that none will let you do if you let them take you in their flow. There has to be a more aggressive insistance within yourself to make it happen.
Another thing to we need to consider I think is that we aren't going to be able to fix the 'cult' of multi-tasking by ourselves, and probably shouldn't even think of doing it. Rather we need to fix ourselves in reference to it. That will do more to solve the problem than anything else.
One of the roots of multi-tasking problems is that all those activities cause us to feel needed and important, very human qualities. As managers though, we need to learn to be not 'too' needed or we're not doing our jobs.
What have you done lately to move into a state of 'uninterrupted?'
