Lifestyle continues to be the number one concern of the great majority of workers in the western world. Even among business owners it is far and away the biggest reason for being in business in the first place.
In a recent UK study it was found that only 16% of those who started a business did it to make a lot of money. Whereas the other 84 percent said it was to get a better lifestyle.
"In today's volatile climate you tend to take stock of what is important, and to me my family will always come out on top. Running my own business has enabled me to enjoy more time with my family, use my strengths to their best ability and take control over my working life."
We need to seriously consider this reality in our own businesses and employees that we manage. Lifestye, above all other things is the number one priority among workers.
Those companies that use the most flexibility with their workers will be the greatest winners. All of the concerns that employees mention, as far as lifestyle goes, boils down to that one thing. We must continually look at innovative and creative ways to successfully run our businesses while giving our employees that which is most important to them.
Instead of letting it all boil up underneath the surface, simply ask around what it is that they want. That is as simple as it is. Then you can put all the different things they desire together and come up with a plan that can work for them and the company. They'll reward you for it.
