Are there hidden synergies in your company or department?

synergy.jpgA seemingly benign set of press releases. An announcement of a partnership. A seemingly simply deal that is interesting but not really that impressive with the numbers thrown around.

What am I talking about? The announcement by Major League Baseball and Signatures Network of an online marketing venture and partnership.

I talked about it on a couple of my other blogs lately at thealphamarketer.com and bizofshowbiz.com.

So what is it about this that has me so interested? First of all I think it will mark the beginning of something extraordinary for the participating industries. I got into that at the other post on the other sites, you can check those out at the links above.

But the reason I'm bringing it up at the managersrealm blog, is because of the unique combination of the two industries that are involved. It's not so much that music and sports is anything new, but Major League Baseball managing Web sites and music sales sure are.

What is extremly important to me is this word 'synergy,' as it applies to this deal. In your management role are there hidden synergies that you can tap into that on the surface don't seem to make sense? Are there things that will lead to things that will lead to things in these potential synergies? What types of combinations that we've missed before could possibly lead to great solutions?

We would love to hear what you have to say about this. I know one thing for sure concerning Major League Baseball, it is no longer and will never be what we have known it to be. This will be only the first step in a number of moves that you will see going on for years.

Who knows, eventually the game, teams and individual players may become the smallest aspect of what the new brand of Major League Baseball becomes, in fact, in my mind there is no doubt.

Me thinks you are starting a trend here for those participating industries, Gary! Thanks...

Thanks also for your clear and interesting writing and for showing me how to break the text in a format.... it worked!

I'm glad you got through your text problem.

I was really interested in your comments on a post I did a couple days ago that is on April 19th called "Does this discovery give insight into recognizing potential great employees?"

It concerns some brain things.
