Last post we talked about the importance of quality of a hire and how they will fit in with the company culture and team as being a far better way of looking at who to hire.
Let's look at one other aspect of this that deals with the area of execution. By the way, this is another reason why what is called "talent" is meaningless.
The ability to execute doesn't usually come from talent levels but from desire levels, things that can't be noticable seen. It it here in the hiring process that questions dealing with projects completed and the individual contribution of the employee to that project that measures this vital area.
Even if there isn't much experience there, but there is the quality you're looking for, you could then look to other aspects of the persons life that may not necessarily be work-related, but possibly a project they completed or volunteer work they gave themselves to.
This is where you find that area that determines if they'll stick with something until it's completed i.e. executed. Again, you can get all the talent in the world, but they may never stick with something long enough to complete it. So here is another tool you can put in your belt when you're going through the hiring process, to look for those that have quality, fit in and the desire and willingness to execute what is presented to them to accomplish.
