In its raw form, management consists of nothing else than motivation people. To bring the supposed and endless "new thing" into the mix is more a fallacy and fantasy then a reality.
When a manager is seeking out information, strategies, skills and insight into being a better manager, it's because of the reason stated above: for motivating their employees.
One of the problems we have as managers is we subconsciously are always looking for this magic bullet that will give us the final solution that will work in every situation; such a thing doesn't exist.
The best way to look at things in my experience is to see every situation, project and challenge as a unique, new creation that you need to learn how to manage today, right now. That means you must have a genuine interest in what is happening and a desire to empower your team to accomplish it.
Motivation comes from communication that is specific, understandable, direct and clear. That along with giving the team leeway and room to solve the problem along with the tools needed to implement the solution.
These things along with total, complete training until the skills and tools needed to succeed are understood and embraced by the employee, will be great triggers to bring motivation to a higher level.
See these things done as a manager and it will bring great success and satisfaction for you and your employees.
