Recently we talked about how to grow a healthy business and life; we needed to learn how to grow things simultaneously. Sequential growth won’t allow us to reach our goals or live a healthy lifestyle along with it.

I am bringing it up here because I came across an interview done with Donald Trump by the SFGate and he was asked that very question. During the middle of the interview he received a business call from overseas that he had to interrupt the interview for. As a result the interviewer asked him these couple of questions:
Q: You got a business call? You're still running a business -- you're not just some celebrity on TV?
A: The business comes far first, believe me.
Q: How do you deal with all the competing pressure?
A: I have a lot of competing pressure. The show has become this big hit. But ultimately, the business to me is far more important than the show. Don't forget, if the business isn't good, the show wouldn't be successful.
I think this is an excellent way to put it. There are many competing pressures. What was his response to those pressures? He knew how to prioritize. He understood what the underlying priorities were and would respond to them in the order they presented themselves.
his isn’t giving in to something sequential; all of the things in Trump’s life are happening at once. Rather he deals with them from a prioritized importance. In business and in management these truths are important to understand. If you don’t understand the priority of what it is you are working and dealing with, how can you know which one of the continuous problems to deal with first?
You can endlessly deal with secondary matters that never get to the core of the problem. This is one of the reasons Trump is so successful. In this area he is a good example to follow.
